Morning Drama is a two-episode video and sound installation that examines the relationship between biological resonance, material energy, and geopolitical atmosphere. Borrowing its title from the Japanese television format “Asadora,” the work reconfigures the 15-minute daily broadcast structure as a temporal framework for listening to the Taiwan Strait as sonic eavesdropping.

From a New Materialist perspective, the project investigates bamboo’s internal acoustic space as a resonant system, making internal flows of vibration, energy, and environmental signals perceptible. Episode 1 is based on field recordings made inside bamboo culms at the Wusantou Reservoir in Taiwan, capturing vibrations within the hollow interiors of the bamboo, manifesting a biological collective that shares a genetic fate and dies in synchronicity. Episode 2 juxtaposes these resonances with ambient recordings of fighter jets passing through Taiwan’s airspace.

Acting as both ecological organism and acoustic chamber, the hollow bamboo amplifies otherwise imperceptible signals, transforming a familiar media format into an acoustic investigation of environmental resonance, historical, and geopolitical.
