Heart Rate Sensor,
Interactive Sound Installation

BamBoo-60 investigates how biological forms operate as resonant infrastructures, attuning material processes, human perception, and broader environmental conditions.

The work focuses on the acoustic and spatial properties of bamboo’s hollow interior, approaching it as a naturally occurring resonant system. Through processes of recording, sensing, and signal translation, organic materials are reconfigured as mediating interfaces that reshape the relations between environmental forces, bodily perception, and contemporary configurations of spiritual life.

In this interactive sound installation, hundreds of bamboo nodes are reconstructed into elongated structures. Participants’ heart-rate data is translated into sound, activating recordings captured within bamboo cavities. The work constructs a feedback system in which human physiological rhythms and the latent acoustics of organic matter become entangled, forming a resonant field that situates perception within a shifting network of material and environmental relations.

Interactive Sound Installation, Heart Rate Sensor
Viewers are invited to wear the sensing devices and listen, through the headphones, to an auditory composition that translates their own heart rate data in relation to recorded sounds of the hollow interiors of bamboo. What is heard is a combination of pitch generated from heart rate values alongside recordings of the bamboo’s inner cavities.
